now i know i am prob getting a bit ahead of myself, as dd is not even 1 yet!!but wondering what age she should be when starting school, i was thinking of leaving it till she is 5 and 9 months, she was born in jan, and i think the rule is 4 by april of the year school starts. i was 4 in the march myself and was always the youngest in school. academically i was fine, but when i got to secondary i was too young, i was still palying with dolls the summer before i started secondary, and was then hanging around with much older kids.does 5 and 9mths sound too old?she could always go to montessori the year before. any thoughts

I think anywhere between 4/5 is fine.  Starting at 3 is too young and 6 is too old imho.  Its at what ever age your dd will be able to cope with it best.  My ds is in preschool at the moment and will be starting in September he is 4 since October will be turning 5 a month after starting.  He is a very talkitive boy who was never shy so he should be ok.  But again it all depends on how you think she will cope ..... plenty of time to decide as they wont take registration till she is about 3

you might find that by age 3 you're thinking to yourself ..... right out the door you go, off to school. lol.  Also I think that now a days children are starting school earlier.  I've met 2/3 moms who have children in school at age 3 ... which is too young i think.  I think with mine I wont decide until age 3 when is the best time to start..... long way to go yet.
